The MIT Dream is about a teenager’s virtual escape to MIT during a year like no other. Surrounded by misery and chaos just meters away from her house, she found a new world of possibilities, all through Zoom. This book follows her journey with MIT’s first virtual Research Science Institute program, while Lebanon struggles with crisis after crisis, including the economic crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and, last but certainly not least, the Beirut explosion. In her debut coming-of-age memoir, the author seeks to understand the importance of allowing herself to make peace with the past as she draws support from the present. She loves her country, but all the love in the world won’t save a sinking ship. Will she choose to jump over board? Or will she go down with it?
